Check your browser? DISTANCE DISCO works best with the lastest Google Chrome. Safari and Firefox browsers are known to have some issues. When joining a disco for the first time make sure to allow your browser to use your webcam.

You might have a poor connection. Try refreshing your browser window. Or try a different browser. Be sure to use Chrome.
Are you or other players on a company computer? It could be that company security settings prohibit webcam use on our website. Unfortunately we can not do anything about that.

Can I use my phone or tablet? #

Unfortunately at this moment DISTANCE DISCO only works on a laptop or desktop computer. It might also work on an ipad or tablet, but for the best results we recommend a normal computer with Google Chrome.

During the disco game everybody’s mic is on mute so you won't hear everyones music at once, and you can focus on showing your moves and finding your match by dancing. When the disco ends everybody’s mic is turned on automatically so you all can have a chat.

Do I need headphones? #

No, you can use any speaker system you prefer.

Can I chat during the disco? #

Yes, just use the chat icon.

Click on the grid view button (the button with a grid).

How can I zoom in on one person? #

You can just click the screen of that person. Make sure you use the grid button to switch back and see everyone dancing.

Can I use my own music with Distance Disco? #

Not yet, unfortunately. We play songs from a various number of genres; you can select which musical genres you would like to hear while you're creating your distance disco.

What can I win? #

You’ve already won a good time in these bizarre times. You'll win eternal fame as the best dancer!

How many people can join? What is the best size? #

In principle, as many people as you want can join a Distance Disco! To enhance the game play, each disco room is limited to 20 persons. When more than 20 people are present, a new room will open automatically, and other players will join the next disco room. It is always possible to switch between rooms (if they are not full).

The minimum number of players is 3. But to fully enjoy the game, make sure at least 6 dancers are present!

Note - for unpaid trial disco's, the maximum capacity is 12 persons and no extra rooms will be created.

Can I still donate to your project? #

We used to work with a "pay what you want" system, but we have now switched over to a model where you pay per disco. However, if you want it is of course still possible to donate. Visit the following link:

How much does it cost? #

A short trial disco is free, and lasts only 12 minutes. If you like it, you can then buy more minutes while the disco is still going on, or you can buy a new disco. A one hour disco starts at €9,50, for max 20 persons.

Only the organizer pays, the price is per disco; everybody you invite can just join your disco for free, without creating an account.

Can I first try out the disco before buying? #

You can indeed first try out a distance disco before you decide to organise a "full" one. Just choose the trial version, which creates a disco which lasts 12 minutes. This will take you through the whole disco organisation process except for the payment part.

Once you've tried it out and are satisfied, you can create a new disco but now choosing one of the longer variants.

Is it possible to change the time of the disco? #

We are working on a system where the administrator can change all details of a disco.

However, currently it is not yet possible to change the time of the disco. If you need to do so, please reach out to us either via the chatbot or via email at info@distancedisco.nl.

I did not receive any e-mails from you #

It could be possible the email has gone into your spam folder. Please double check if the emails ended up there!

What kind of playlists do you have available? #

You can select one or more playlists / music genres of your liking. We are always working on new playlists. You can check the available playlists once you start creating your disco: https://distancedisco.nl/create

I organised a disco; when does it open? #

When you organise a disco, you and your friends can already log in 1 hour before the event starts. You will see the instruction video first and then join a video waiting room to get in the mood!

How does it work?

Distance Disco works best with the Chrome, Edge or Safari webbrowser.
It won't work on a tablet or a phone.
